Following on from the successful installation of the mobile storage system at the new Sony Television facility in Turkmenistan, OSS were again contracted in to design, build, and oversee the installation of an even bigger roller rack storage system at the newly built and very impressive TV tower in Ashgabat.

The mobile storage system, which was built by OSS in the UK before being transported to site for assembly and installation, was specifically designed for the housing of tapes and discs used at the television centre. The system provides for an impressive 7,500 metres of storage space in over 1,100 storage bays, providing the staff with a space-saving yet easily accessible system to manage their media.

The entire project took just 5 weeks to complete, during which time OSS flew engineers to the site to work with local engineers to carry out the successful installation on time and on budget.

The Office Storage Solutions Team Fulfils Sony Contract in Turkmenistan

When Sony Professional Solutions – Europe, in conjunction with Kulu Productions Ltd, developed a new TV Centre in Turkmenistan, the problem was not only sourcing a company who could provide a storage solution for over 35,000 discs and tapes of various sizes, but also finding one who would be prepared to install the storage at a site 3000 miles from the UK.

With the state-of-the-art TV Centre up-and-running, what was needed next was tailored mobile storage for disks and tapes, built to world-class standards.

Office Storage Solutions (OSS) were contacted and following meetings at Sony HQ in Basingstoke, a mobile storage system was designed and developed to accommodate three sizes of discs and tapes, which not only met the client’s requirements, but also provided additional storage capacity for future growth.

OSS Engineers Fly In and Get the Job Done Without a Hitch
The system was manufactured within three weeks, checked and double-checked and then packaged for export and delivered to Sony, Basingstoke. All components were then flown to Turkmenistan.

OSS flew trained engineers to the site in Ashgabat, and the mobile system was installed in three days, without one problem arising, and to the client’s complete satisfaction.
